Nicklas Bates
Adair
Jan 5, 1988 — Sep 18, 2026
Westville, Oklahoma
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23
Nicklas Bates Adair, born January 5, 1988, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, completed his earthly journey and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on September 18, 2026, in Jay, Oklahoma, at the age of 38.
Nick was a lifelong resident of Westville, Oklahoma, and was a man who loved fiercely, deeply, and in a way that reflected the love of Christ. His testimony of unfailing faith and the transforming power of God’s grace touched countless lives throughout his community.
Nick grew up fishing and hunting with his cousins and friends. He played football at Westville in junior high, but his true passion was basketball, where he truly shined. He was also a proud Oklahoma Sooners fan. Later in life, Nick could often be found on the sidelines, cheering on and supporting one of the many athletes he loved and followed. He kept the highway hot, traveling from one game to another to show his support. When he wasn't at a ballgame, Nick could often be found caring for his dogs. He took great pride in raising Bullies and poured his heart and passion into it. Anyone who knew Nick also knew of his love for hot rods and his natural ability to work on and fix cars. But above all of these things, Nick's greatest passion became his relationship with Jesus Christ. Nick's life was a powerful testimony of God's grace, mercy, and redeeming love. In his younger years, he faced struggles that would eventually become some of the greatest parts of his testimony. Rather than hide the difficult chapters of his story, Nick allowed God to use them to reach others. He understood what it meant to be lost, to struggle, and to need hope, and he wanted everyone to know that there was always a way back to Jesus. Nick gave his life to Christ while sitting in a jail cell. From that moment, his life was transformed. He went on to preach the Gospel and never looked back. His life became a living testimony that no one is too far gone for God's grace. Nick spoke and evangelized in local churches, revivals, and recovery gatherings. He loved nothing more than the opportunity to sit down with someone, open the Bible, and share what God had done in his own life. He loved having Bible studies, outreaches, and never turned down an opportunity to pray for someone in need.
At Impact Church, Nick became the outreach pastor. He also played a significant role in the ministry that is now known as Hope For Today, pouring his testimony, time, and heart into helping others find hope and freedom. Later, Nick attended Christian Worship Center in Stilwell before he and Christian would find their forever church, Pastoring at Whitmire Community Church in the Christie Community. There, his faith and fellowship continued to grow, and the church quickly became home. Nick took great pride in his work as a Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist with the Grand Mental Health Crisis unit in Jay. His journey allowed him to meet people in some of their darkest moments and remind them that their story was not over. He understood that sometimes the person who can reach someone best is the person who has walked through the fire themselves.
Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”
John 14:13–15 reminds us, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son... If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
And his favorite 2 Corinthians 5:7 declares, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Nick didn't just believe those words—he lived them.
On September 20th, Nick married, and together, along with all their children, they became a family. Nick cherished the love and bond they shared and was grateful for the family they built together. He loved his family deeply and took great pride in being there for the people he called his own. Nick's story is one of redemption. It is a story of a man who experienced brokenness but discovered restoration. A man who knew what it meant to struggle but chose to become a source of hope for others. A man whose past did not define him because he allowed Jesus to rewrite his story. Nick leaves behind a testimony that will continue long after his earthly journey has ended. His life reminds us that God can take the darkest chapter and use it for His glory. What the enemy meant for destruction, God can turn into a testimony.
And we can believe that the words he longed to hear have now been spoken: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Nick's earthly story has ended, but his testimony has not.
Nicklas was welcomed with open arms by his father, Bobby Adair; maternal grandparents, Donald and Elterine (Walters) Rector; and paternal grandmother, Mary Adair. He was also preceded in death by his step great-grandmother, Lettie Burdge; uncles, Roger Adair and James Rector; step-grandparents, Loran and Colleen Burdge; and cousin Justin Bell.
Nick leaves behind a loving family: his wife, Christian Adair, and children, Trinity Nicole Adair, Jeron Tyler Nelson, and Chevy Marie Nelson; his mother, Trina Burdge; her companion, Jimmy Christian; his sister, Emilee RaeLynn Burdge; and his paternal grandfather, Bob Adair.

"The table is set. There's a chair waiting for you.
Bring everything you have, everything you've done, everything you're going through...and come to Jesus."
